"Drifted the southern edge of the Susquehanna Flats grass beds at early dawn. Water temp 78°F with a light stained clarity. Hooked this 34" striper on a 1/2oz pearl swimbait jig. The MIDCHANNEL rod absorbed every headshake smoothly."
Angler: Dave M. • Marbury, MD
"Worked spatterdock lily pad fields inside Mattawoman Creek on low slack tide. Had 4 topwater blows on a 1/2oz white frog tied to 30lb braid. Landed this solid 12 lb trophy snakehead!"
Angler: Marcus T. • Ocean City, MD
"Fished the Assateague OSV beach zone 2 hours before high tide. Baited live sand fleas on a 2-hook high-low float rig with a 3oz pyramid sinker. Caught 3 pompano and 5 kingfish!"
Angler: Ray T. • Chesapeake City, MD
"Anchored on the deep ebb current seam below the C&D Canal railroad bridge in 22 feet. Dropped a 4oz bank sinker with a 4/0 circle hook baited with a fresh cut gizzard shad chunk. Monster blue catfish — 47 lbs, measured 46 inches. The FAIRLEAD 3000 drag held perfectly."
Angler: Jenny P. • Millsboro, DE
"Drifted the inlet channel edge at half-tide with a 1/4oz bucktail tipped with a gulp swimming mullet. Slot fish between 17–21 inches, all 5 keepers. Current was running hard northwest — found the fish stacked on the downcurrent side of the jetty rock field."
Angler: Linda H. • Chesapeake City, MD
"Anchored over a submerged oyster rock bar in the Bohemia River 8 feet deep with a 1/8oz chartreuse beetle spinner. Absolutely insane perch action from first light until 9 AM. Caught and released approximately 50 white perch, kept 12 for the pan — all between 9–13 inches."
Angler: Darius C. • Solomons, MD
"Spotted a pod of cobia rolling on the surface behind a cownose ray school at the mouth of the Patuxent. Hit them with a 6oz white Zara Spook-style popper. Chaos ensued — had 3 doubles in a row, landed 7 cobia between 25–38 inches. All released. Absolutely epic Chesapeake summer topwater bite."
Angler: Phil R. • Lewes, DE
"Night-fished the Cape Henlopen shoal edge on outgoing with a 1/4oz yellow jig head tipped with a 4-inch chartreuse paddle tail. Weakfish — or 'tiderunners' — were stacked in 8–12 feet over hard sand. Caught 8 keepers from 14–22 inches plus a 5 lb doormat flounder as a bonus."
Angler: Jake W. • Frederick, MD
"Wade fished the rocky riffle sections below the Seneca Breaks on a falling stage. Using a 1/4oz inline spinner and 4-inch green pumpkin tube jig. Caught 22 smallmouth bass from 10–18 inches in 4 hours. The MIDCHANNEL rod's tip sensitivity made every subtle bottom contact feel like a fish tap."
Angler: Tim F. • Elkton, MD
"Sight-fished the Elk River grass flats in my kayak in 3 feet of crystal water. Spotted a large common carp tailing in the SAV grass beds and pitched a size 10 wooly bugger at its nose. After a 20-minute fight on my 7-weight fly rod, landed this magnificent 25 lb common carp. One of the most technical fishing experiences I've had in Cecil County."
Angler: Bobby S. • Aberdeen, MD
"Ran offshore to the shipping channel south of the Bay Bridge and found birds working a massive bunker school. Spanish mackerel were busting surface in every direction. Rigged a 1-inch Clark spoon behind a trolling weight and we absolutely hammered them — 40+ mackerel in 2 hours. All released except 12 for the smoker."
Angler: Carlos M. • Fredericksburg, VA
"Waded the tidal grass flats near the lower Rappahannock at dawn. Found a school of redfish tailing in 18 inches of water over a mud flat near a marsh creek mouth. Threw a 1/4oz gold spoon and the 29-inch slot red crushed it immediately. First Virginia red drum on light spinning tackle — incredible fight in the shallows."
